Very ture Sam, ebay has lost the plot and lost their way, ebay needs to take a few steps back, I remember when ebay was fun, I loved it, at the time I was employed full time and did it for the fun and too earn a little extra.

But ebay didnt change everything every 10 mins and there there were no big boys on there such as argos and likes.

They have made too many changes and too quickly and some of them have been for the worst.

Yesterday I was looking for a product, none available on ebay, years ago I would of been able to find it.

So you know anyone who is selling a few trolleys with shelfs on in my part of the UK (north west) manchester let me know, looking at second hand as brand new ones are not what we want, as they are like the bug dug ones we have already, we want something smaller as they are too big.

Years ago I cud of found that, sellers are clearly not selling on ebay as much as they used to

This is a simple buyer payment rating system that eBay could implement.

All buyers are automatically awarded 5***** stars if sale is flagged up as paid within a 4 day period.

All buyers are automatically awarded 1* star if sale is flagged up as paid after 4 days has lapsed.

Each buyer has a payment rating score out of 5***** which is the average of all scores received.

Buyers who select a snail mail payment method automatically receive a 4**** rating which is upgraded to 5***** if seller flags up payment as being received within 4 days and downgraded to 1* if payment arrives after 4 days.

Sellers are able to ban buyers whose rating drops below a certain payment level of say 3.9

This is beneficial for eBay/Paypal as an increasing number of buyers will opt to use Paypal as a payment method and pay quickly.

Hi,
I'd just like to mention a tool I've built that I think solves many of the above mentioned issues - marksight.com

It lets you search completed ebay auctions and see real sold prices based on keywords.

Anyone that is smart will have multiple clean ID's.

Makes sense as you never know how or when you could fall foul of ebay/paypal rules due too no fault of your own.

Don't rely on the old saying "it won't happen to me"

We cant wait till we retire. We were on ebay in the early days, so we have made our money. Now we only just make a living day to day from ebay.
Thing is it could be good again, would have been so easy to have made the ressesion work for Ebay. Rather than taking the safe route of putting there eggs in the big boys basket.

UK Mail are a big NO NO.

We tried out their service for 1 month, Terrible, they employ some part time self employed drivers, if a deliver fails and that driver is not working the following day then the parcel stays in their van untill they do their next shift, they make 2 delivery attempts, of which u r allowed so many free then you have to pay after ur allowance runs out.

Terrible cust service, my advise steer clear unless 100% of ur customers are business and are open normal working hrs.

We use UPS, they make 3 delivery attempts, and they dont charge for them either its all part of the service, They have a FREE exception managment service (emails you when a delivery fails and tells u the reason so you can email your customer - 9 times out of 10 customer was not home)

They always card customers, they use diferent vans to most couriers, which are racked out with shelves so your parcel does not get thrown around in a empty van.

We have been with them now for 3 yrs and not a bad word to say and we send high volumes of parcels.

Well done UPS and keep up the great work

I have a good percentage in regard to Buyers leaving Feedback. The last line of the paperwork that I put in with my delivery says "Please remember the old Saying "The Job is not completed until the paperwork is Done". Please Leave Feedback. If for any reason there is a problem please contact me on(and then I put my phone number) before leaving Feedback. The original of this usually shows a little boy sitting on the potty I do not include this sketch.

I estimate that well over 90% of my customers leave feedback and the vast majority(99% are glowing reports)and the odd few are just very good. I have only had 2 adverse. One I deserved although I think the customer went a little far(it was a 99p item) and the other I am convinced was an error by the buyer because when I contacted him about it he didn't realise that he had left an adverse feedback. So all in all I feel that I am not doing badly. Although it may be because the bulk of the books that I sell are Specialist that I am dealing with predominately a very nice bunch of customers and this might be an influence.

I thought that the quote was "That the only things that are guaranteed are Taxes and Death". I have never heard of the addition of Parking Tickets in Edinburgh(why just Edinburgh?)

Thinking about it I suppose there are a lot of items that are guaranteed I just wonder about the efficiency of Traffic Wardens(or whatever theyu are called these days) in Edinburgh

Dsr ratings are a con

if a buyer is miffed your getting low stars across the board.

if a buyer is unresonable your getting low stars across the board.

Some buyers will not rate you at all.

The star ratings are not black & white. They are minipulated depending on a buyers perception.

Ignore the DSR's. Refund on the negs and get them removed.

You have no controll over dsr's.

I have never left feedback on Amazon. The fact is I buy a lot online and the only place where I leave feedback is eBay. I do it as a favour for sellers as I know that my 5***** will help them counter the odd rogue buyer. Hate having to be forced to leave comments all the time.

As a buyer I am not bothered whether I receive feedback or not. It is my money why should I be rated on it? That in itself can put buyers off using eBay.

I'm curious how your app works because unless you are using data licensed from AERS (parent company of Terapeak) what you are doing is against the terms of use of the eBay developer's program. If you are licensing data from AERS then I guess that is fine but it is a very expensive API to be giving out free service with no ads. I remember at one point I considered using their API but I'd have to increase my prices by a factor of over 4x just to offset the cost.
