Amazon Prime £59 discount offer until Friday

It would be no surprise to see Amazon ramp up promotion of Prime in advance of The Grand Tour launching this Friday and that’s what’s happening with a £20 discount offer. Until Friday the 18th of November, you can subscribe to Prime for £59 (instead of the normal £79).

As well as saving £20 on your first year’s membership, you can get access to thousands of TV shows and movies with Prime Video, unlimited One-Day Delivery, Prime Music, unlimited photo storage, over a million ebooks at no additional cost and 30-minute early access to Lightning Deals.

Amazon are apparently so taken with the old Top Gear Team that they’re already offering an extension to their contract. Having signed up for three seasons, Amazon want to sign up Clarkson, Hammond and May for five seasons – a full 60 episodes.

It’s a bit unusual to extend a show’s run before the first episode has even aired and it’s said that the trio along with mastermind Andy Wilman the producer would get their fees doubled. For Amazon it would lock them in and make sure that for the next five years we’ll probably see a Prime subscription offer just before each series starts.

Normally you’d get a 30 day trial for Prime before your subscription cuts in so effectively the standard offer is 13 months for the price of 12 (£6.07/month). With this offer you get 12 months for £59 (£4.91/month) so a pretty good deal although no trial period.
