Update on carrier integrations now supported by eBay
With Black Friday just around the corner, news from the eBay UK Shipping team – by the end of next week, we can expect the following delivery carriers to be fully integrated into the platform:
- Royal Mail Tracked 24, Tracked 48
Royal Mail Special Delivery and 1st, 2nd Class Royal Mail Signed-For will be fully supported over the next couple of weeks too.
As well as improving the user experience, making it quicker and easier to check on the progress of an item once it’s shipped, the service aims to reduce the number of “where is my item?” questions from buyers. Integrating tracking data in this way helps to reduce “Item Not Received” (INR) cases and supports sellers towards the new On Time Shipping (OTS) metric.
The eBay Seller Centre page includes advice on how to upload tracking numbers, be that individual or in bulk using, for example, eBay’s File Exchange tool.
The page is being updated to include recommended formats, e.g. “Royal Mail” instead of “Royal Mail 1st Class Signed-For”.
If you upload tracking numbers directly to eBay then you need to nothing bar ensure you select the correct carrier/service. If you use a third party listing tool then you need to be aware that any that errors in your carrier listing may mean that the platform is not able to properly pull the tracking status into My eBay. Especially a shout out to sellers who routinely specify “Other Courier” to give themselves flexibility – make sure that you specify the actual courier/service used for the future.
