eBay VP cuts the ribbon at Genie and the Geek new offices
Tanya Lawler, VP of eBay Marketplaces UK cut the ribbon to officially open the doors to Genie and the Geek‘s new offices and warehouse today. And she got a plaque on the wall to commemorate the event, which apparently is a first for her!
The guys at Genie and the Geek invited a ton of their suppliers and customers to show them around their new building which is pretty impressive. Plush offices and a warehouse so enormous they’ve had to name sections of it as countries just to find their way around (and possible plans to build out into their new car park if they run out of space).
They’ve not neglected their staff either, their company culture is to look after their workers so there’s a canteen with a chef to serve lunch, several chill out spaces, if you’re feeling energetic a squash court, gym, table tennis and for the more sedate a darts board.
Testament to their commitment to support their workers is their apprenticeship program and their apprentices don’t tend to leave, one of them has graduated to a full time position running a team within the business.
If you don’t know Genie and the Geek and get the opportunity, definitely get down to see Tayyab and the guys. As well as their first company My1stWish, they recently launched Unique Home Living as well as offering a full service management model for ecommerce clients. They’ll do everything for you from photography (you should see their new studio!), listing, customer service, warehousing, shipping, returns – pretty much everything except sourcing the stock.
The only thing I haven’t figured out is how they moved their entire operation from the old warehouse to the new one in just three short weeks. They tell me there were many late nights and long weekends and the biggest nightmare was when they needed to ship stock that was being trucked to the new location at that moment.
The final touch was the splendid cake to celebrate their new premises!
