Sellers can now send pictures via Messages?
Yesterday eBay.com announced that sellers can now send buyers pictures to buyers through My Messages.
The idea is if a buyer asks me for more information about an item I can send a photo rather than having to request their personal email address or host the image online. One big advantage of this for sellers, is that if ever there’s a dispute the images you sent will be available to customer support when reviewing any resolution cases opened by your buyers.
The instructions for sharing pictures via eBay My Messages are:
1) When replying to an email in My Messages, you’ll now see an “Add Pictures” button above the text box.
2) Click on the “Add Pictures” button and a pop-up window will ask you to upload pictures from your computer.
3) You may select a maximum of 5 pictures, each with the following requirements:
i) No larger than 5MB
ii) Minimum of 500 pixels for the longest side (1600 pixels recommended)
iii) Must be a JPG, BMP, GIF, PNG or TIF format
4) Once you’ve uploaded your pictures, click on ‘Save’ and you will be brought back to the message text box with your pictures now attached.
This all sounds great, but I’ve been unable to see the feature on either eBay UK or eBay.com – I suspect that the announcement may have been published ahead of the update rolling out across eBay sites.
If you spot the “Add Pictures” button we’d love to have a screen shot*. If you can’t see it yet keep your eyes peeled as it should be coming soon.
Edited to add: *Many thanks to Martin of The Whirlpool Bath Shop for supplying the image of the new feature!

I’ve seen it, it says that eBay will monitor all the photos just in case you send stuff they don’t like…

I’m wondering what sort of photos eBay expect me to send to a buyer that they’d object to…. but then again I’m not in the habit of risque pictures some like myexboyfriendscloset tend to use

It is on eBay UK – this it what it says…
(the module only activates when you respond to an email via the eBay website)
“Remember, when you upload your photos:
Your photos will be stored and shared on eBay servers, and can be viewed by Customer Support representatives.
All uploaded photos must comply with eBay’s image and text policies.”

I tried it today and a small box opened up.
I clicked the blue button to add an image and it didn’t work. No image could be browsed for.
Oh well. I shall try again in a week to see if it works then.
If anyone has had it working please let me know as it may be a config issue with my PC.
