eBay UK’s new advert is showing on TV now
eBay UK’s new TV advert is now airing on commercial TV channels in the UK. So far I’ve only heard it’s been shown on tea time TV quiz show The Chase, but if you watch enough telly you’re bound to see it.
We predicted that this ad would come to the UK after seeing it aired on German TV earlier in the month. Focusing on the breadth of choice on eBay with over 50 million products to choose from the ad highlights that you’ve got eBay everywhere you go in your pocket on your mobile smartphone.

The ad was on yesterday, I think on C4?
We also have a massive billboard advert 1 min from the flat with a new eBay advert, focused again on mobile!

eBay is expanding. With the ad its clear that it is now using the mobile and tablets as a good promoting option.

I’ve started to hear Ebay adverts on the Radio, mainly on Talk Sport. This is the first time i’ve heard them advertise this way. Must have increased the marketing budget.

It’s all over the place – the TV advert is playing in various ad placements on the Internet as well
Nice one eBay!

I like the radio ads. Sell what you dont want to buy what you do.

So how come if eBay’s spent a squillion bucks on a new logo the ad features the familiar jumbled lettering?

I saw eBay billboard before this post. They must have done good planning. Goodluck to all eBay sellers for this festive season.

Hi
I’m fairly new to e-bay, but interested in taking it further perhaps. This strikes me as an interesting development. Why have they started to advertise? Is it because the site is struggling, or to build on success?

eBay are advertising BECAUSE they are so successful!
Find any major company that doesn’t invest in advertising, especially when times are tough economically. You have to remember that often eBay buyers can save money and so the site potentially does better in a recession.
Also the focus of the ad is using eBay on your mobile. Whilst the 20% of the UK that use mobile web might remember to check eBay on the computer they may not have thought how easy it is to use eBay on their mobile
