eBay Motors parts compatibility listings guide

eBay have published a help guide for motor’s parts sellers on how to list with fitment using the Master Vehicle List.

Parts compatibility aims to enable sellers to show all the cars that are compatible with a part or accessory in a single listing, helping to save time and money and giving buyers an easy way to find the right parts for their vehicle. eBay say that it’s working with a 27% increase in buyer activity (bidding, buying, making an offer, watching an item and
asking a question) on listings that have vehicle compatibility versus those that don’t have this information.

Although this creates more work when creating a listing but getting it right should significantly increase sales and will definitely ensure your listings show higher in search results than listings that don’t use fitment.

We have heard a few gripes with the Master Vehicle List, such as the maximum of 1,000 compatible cars is too small and inconsistencies where the car registration number look up doesn’t always ensure a match for the correct part. The fact remains though that to get your listing found you need to use eBay fitment and then use your description and ask buyers to contact you with their car chassis number to confirm that they’re ordering the correct part before ordering.

If it’s the limit of 1000 cars which is the problem then eBay do allow up to 15 identical listings if the individual listings differ in the makes and models that they include.
