100 Free listings on eBay UK 12-13th May
Having missed out on a rainy bank holiday weekend eBay have now obliged with the free listing day we were expecting. This weekend for the 12th and 13th May you can list auction style listings on eBay from a private account with free insertion fees.
The start price needs to be £1 or more to qualify for free insertion fees (you already get free insertion fees for auctions with lower start prices as a private seller). All the normal terms apply – private sellers only, no professional listing tools – you can only use the Sell Your Item form, Quick Sell form or mobile apps to list.

Well since I’ve just spent 2 hours trying to buy and pay for an item and I still haven’t, I won’t be wasting my time.

I am confused. What has a payment problem got to do with a Free Listing Weekend?

More to do with Friday maintenance I should think, the effects of which can be somewhat alarming in the short term.

eBay India have a notice out this morning that some users may have difficulties buying fixed price items. I’ve not seen anything for any other sites around the world.

This restriction was introduced when the number of listings was not limited to 100 and, the offers were being abused by business sellers posing as private sellers.
There’s probably no good reason why listing tool restrictions should still apply, other than that nobody has bothered to change it.
The US site has no such restrictions at such times.
By the way, these have not been “free listing” days for some time – they are now “zero insertion fee” days.
