100 free listings on eBay UK 28th-29th April
There’s yet another eBay UK free listing weekend for private sellers on the 28th and 29th April. Again Business sellers and PowerSellers are excluded as are the use of any professional listing tools such as TurboLister or Selling Manager Pro.
This time sellers can list up to 100 auction style listings with a start price of £1 or more with free insertion fees.
eBay also added on an image to the email notification promoting “Mobile listings in 60 seconds“. If you’re clearing out your old DVDs or CDs then this is definitely the way to go – simply scan the barcode and the listing is pretty much created for you and all you need to do is a brief description and choose the start price and duration. If you’ve not tried listing with the mobile app why not give it a try on your private eBay ID this weekend?

The optimum strategy at the moment seems to avoid the having listings end on weekends when the free listing end. The categories that I sell personal stuff in invariably get flooded during free listing period and therefore my stuff gets less exposure.

Surely most free listings are for 10 days. Thus they are not ending at weekends but in mid week.

Maybe others think differently but I always thought it best to end auctions at the weekend when most internet traffic happens.

I would generally launch 50 from my pool of unsold lots for 1 day on the Saturday, and then top up the unsold ones for a further 5 days on the Sunday, so that I have used my 100 overall.

I have to ask before somebody else does but Why?
50 items for 1 day. Do any of them ever sell? The other 50 for 5 days I can see the point but why 1 day. Unless they are items that are so madly in demand that they will sell immediately. Then my question is Why haven’t you got them listed anyway? Or am I missing something?

@ Radroach: So you are chancing to sell ‘auction’ items at ‘BIN’ prices?
They ain’t auctions and eBay should make it more difficult for you and others doing the same to abuse free auctions.
Auctions should start at 99p, all mine now do.

There is a theory that if you start at 99p the item will be bid up to find its natural level. I have tried this and seen far too many items sell for 99p which in reality are worth a great deal more.
Of course the other option is to put a reserve on it as happens most of the time in regard to Cars and of course in most Real Auctions where the Auctioneer knows the realistic value of most(if not all) of the items in the Auction.
But unless you are going to put a realistic Reserve on every item I would think it very risky to start every auction at 99p.
