Royal Wedding memorabilia blunder on eBay

If there’s ever an event guaranteed to produce an influx of sometimes tasteful, but more often tacky, souvenirs it’s a Royal event such as a Coronation, Jubilee or at this moment in time a Royal Wedding.

eBay is awash with William and Kate souvenirs, but the most amusing is a mug manufactured by Guandong Enterprises which features the happy couple… except it sports a picture of William’s younger brother Harry alongside the bride to be Kate.

They appear to be selling at stupidly high prices on eBay with eBay research company Terapeak revealing that the highest price fetched to date is £70.00 for a mistake Harry and Kate mug. The next highest price was an auction at £67.00, although since then prices have tumbled.

Originally available from Guandong Enterprises at £9.99 plus P&P there was a hefty mark up for the first sellers to list these mugs, although even a mistake doesn’t ensure that your Royal Wedding souvenirs will make a good investment.

Terapeak shows the average selling price for a Queens Silver Jubilee Mug from 1977 is still just £3.85 and for a Coronation mug from 1953 prices average around £6.81. If you’re buying William (or Harry!) and Kate memorabilia don’t expect it to be a nest egg for the future.
