I suspect that may have been a rhetorical question from Tim — but yes, you’re totally right. There were lots of promises made by eBay’s management – “we’re listening and we’ll keep listening” from Lorrie and Stephanie too – that bear no relation to the eBay I know.

“We’re only really interested in big retailers’ clearance” would be closer to the truth.

A good piece.

LVMH have taken the problem to the courts and against eBay.

Vero tends to bypass the need for legal action and is against individual sellers.

LVMH are definitely fighting the corner for their own brands.

Vero often seems to be used in a far more ambiguous way.

Sue, If I recall you were at the last eBay Live – you know the one were they promised “Transparency”. Were JD himself took the stage to tout the new “transparent” eBay.

In your opinion, how’s that working out in practice?

Yes, they could be transparent and tell us about their VeRO partners… but that would be a little too much like respecting sellers and their livelihood, now wouldn’t it?

Again it’s another fuzzy part of ebay where sellers never know what to do or what’s right and what’s not.
