Compare the Meerkat Alexandr Limited Edition

Without a doubt the most talked about advert of the year is Compare the Market dot com with their Aleksandr Compare the Meerkat spoof. Harrods have had so many advance orders for the limited edition Aleksandr that Mohammed al Fayed decided the only thing to do would be to give them all to charity.
Two charities have been allowed to exclusively auction a few Aleksandrs on eBay but the majority will go to sick children who will spend Christmas day in hospital. The only way you can get your hands on a limited edition Aleksandr is to bid for him on eBay with the proceeds doing directly to either Great Ormond Street Hospital or Guy’s & St Thomas’s.

I think whoever thought up the ad is a genius.

I don’t deny the idea is kind of clever, still irritating though.

I generally hate insurance adverts, but the Meerkat ones really are quite funny, so I’m not surprised that Aleksandr products are popular.
The fact that proceeds are going to charity gets my vote.
Well done to Mohammed al Fayed, he gets a lot of stick, but on this occasion I say “Well done”

Gotta love the sponsored link at the bottom of each page of listings – can’t ebay turn those off, just for once?
