eBay launch their 2009 series of holiday adverts under the theme “Come to think of it, eBay”.
Not quite as snappy as the spoof advert that was made for eBay’s “Find IT on eBay” campaign from 2005 – I know which will stick in my mind the longest.

The ebay one is just bad on so many levels, I dont know where to start.
Poor Dan got stuck in some kind of echo chamber…
Not overly convinced by the eBay tag for the new campaign. It feels like they are admitting “hey we appreciate you may have forgotten about us, but…”
Overall the impression is of a giant of the web pleading to be revisited again. Shame, but then perhaps relevant to the US audience it is clearly aimed at.
Based on a country’s eBay maturity then TV spots will always differ, which brings me to the singluarly most inspiring ad (in my opinion) that was run in Germany around 4-5 years ago. It speaks to the fun, thrill, addiction of bidding and then winning something on eBay. A thrill that I still maintain very few other sites can inspire in a web user.

Now that was a quality ad
