Google Merchant product feed replaces Google Base

If you’re used to logging into Google Base to upload your website feeds and get them indexed in Google Product Search (Google Shopping), you’ll need to visit Google Merchant Center in future.

You can still upload non-product data, Google Base should be used for data such as recipes, jobs and property listings. Your product data feeds and account settings should have been migrated to the new Merchant Center when you sign in using your Google credentials.

It’s important that if you are uploading product data that you wish to appear on Google Product Search you switch to using the Merchant Center immediately. Items loaded into Google Base will now be treated as non-product and will not appear in shopping search results.

   Had a go at this a couple of weeks ago but my feed won’t upload, it processes but doesn’t insert. Tried again from scratch but it still doesn’t work.

   Perhaps when I have a bit more time I’ll get my head around what’s wrong. If anyone else has a firepages site and is having this problem let me know.

   It took mine a while to publish today, but it did eventually. I have quite a few errors though (which didn’t flag up on exactly the same feed when submitted to base previously) which I need to have a look at and fix for next time.

   All my items are showing in Google Merchant, does this mean I am okay?

   I think so Mark – when I uploaded mine to Base a couple of weeks ago, they were showing there, but not in Merchant. Now I’ve done in the right place, they are showing in Merchant.
