eBay and Microsoft team up with IE8 for eBay
by Chris Dawson
A quarter of all TameBay readers are still using Internet Explorer 7 or even 6 as their Internet browser, and if that’s you it’s time you upgraded to IE8. Rather than downloading the standard version there’s a version specifically tailored for eBay.
Internet Explorer 8 optimised for eBay updates the Daily Deal as WebSlice in your favourites, allows you to search eBay from your browser task bar showing with auto complete suggestions including image from eBay, and with the eBay accelerator allows you to check eBay prices simply by highlighting text anywhere on the web.
You can download either the IE8 for eBay UK version or for US readers there’s IE8 for eBay.com which shows US Daily Deals and searches the US site.

I don’t think this is compatable with aimco software.
I’ve been using IE8 with Aimco for months – works a treat
Just saying…
Weird – TL uses the IE engine but never had a problem using it with IE8. Which sites have you had a problem with?
It took Aimco a while to make it work with 8, at least with paypal, but as Chris said it has been working for a few months.
No problems using TL with 8.
Not really sure if the ebay version is of any use to sellers, so I won’t bother downloading it, unless I hear of specific uses.
This will not work with any recent versions.
It will not install so it’s useless if you already have IE8
I thought I’d give it a go, but unfortunately, it does not work with XP Pro 64 Bit
Sorry guys, didn’t occur to me it might not work with recent versions. However here’s how to customise an existing IE8 install to turn it into IE8 for eBay
Well, I thought I couldn’t imagine anything worse than having to use IE, but turns out I was wrong. ]:)
WOW – A custom version of Outhouse Explorer just to use on Feebay!!!!
Is like using coarse sandpaper to cover my cactus buttplug.
Whoopee!
Apart from Aimco I always found Chrome to be the most “responsive” browser for use with eBay related “things”. Simply because it’s not as bloated as other browsers, but that’s simply my personal preference, I used IE for years before discovering how much better Chrome is for pretty much all browsing (although it’s still pretty shoddy at viewing PDF’s, but otherwise all good).
I use Chrome for pretty much everything, and it works perfect with my new business website and the back end site etc. I’d recommend it to anyone, UNLESS of course you rely on AIMCO software.
