Everything changes : eBay listings now editable
8/10/2009 at 12:20
The eBay Developers’ Blog has confirmed that changes to allow sellers to edit just about any part of their listing, even after it’s had a sale, are now live.
Price, description and postage costs can now be revised, as can just about any other aspect of a fixed price multiple item listing, with the exceptions of title, format, duration and category. (Why not title and category, I ask myself, but we’ll let that go: being able to change the description and the shipping costs is a crucial and superb development.) Buyers who’ve already bought from the listing will be able to view the previous version.
I’d really like to echo the Dev Blog’s call for developers to take advantage of this. Tools that would – for example – easily find and update all listings missing a returns policy, or all listings that don’t offer special delivery as a shipping option, or which have your old email address in the PayPal field, would make sellers’ lives a thousand times easier. There’s an opportunity for someone here to make a truly great listing tool – at last.

Just tried making 1 listing free p&p and I am pleased/stunned not sure which, to say that it works.
The item has 78 watchers so I can expect a few emails shortly along the lines of ‘why have you put the item up by £40.00′ to which I can reply ‘I still haven’t found the carrier eBay keep telling me about who offers free postage so I have just added it on to the item price’

Nooooo. You reply “it’s going up another £40 in a week, so better buy it now”, sell 78 baths in one day, and retire to the Bahamas

Too bad this wasn’t available in June when someone was offering to pay me money to run a script I wrote against all his listings.

Has anyone been experiencing problems with photos today?

Haven’t heard anything Bryn – what sort of problems, and who are you hosting with?

We’ve had this problem on and off for the past couple of months. Ebay know about it, but as far as I can see, nothing has been done to fix it.

Have had the picture problem over the past week.
Sometimes its worse in the Ebay Motors section for cars when we cant see any pictures at all.

Just upload them to Ebay.
Some show and some dont – when they dont show sometimes just blank or sometimes have a red “x”. All very variable and looks like a ‘glitch’….
Cheers

Bryn, we have had the same thing all day and emails from ebay to say we need to fix our gallery pictures, yet they look fine!
