To be fair Pete you can pay for a signature if you want to ensure goods are signed for.

Also in fairness it’s a refreshing change to actually have a location where the parcel was left. Use Royal Mail 1st/2nd class unsigned for or standard parcels and you haven’t a clue where your item might be.

i have sent lots of parcels thru Hermes they have all arrived within 2 to 3 days, I have sent recorded parcels thru the post office and the last 2 vanished, i also found them cheaper then RM on most unless sending a small light package, they collect from you home/work and even an item that weighs 15kgs is only 7.99

My experience of PF and ANC has been that they see a residential address and think: goody! – a nice window of opportunity for them to deliver as they leave the depot at 7 am but most businesses don’t open until 08.00. As long as you don’t live alone and take long early morning showers all will be well.

Hmmmm….my experience of couriers in general, as a consumer, isn’t good. I have worked from home and I have received business items there.

They see a residential address and just assume you’re not going to be in and the vast majority of the time they leave a card, and you have to go to some out of town depot to collect. That’s my experience, anyway.

I think eBay sellers are more likely to experience grief from their buyers when using couriers and sending items to residential addresses. Beware.

Looking at the eBay announcement I am more interested in the discounted Interparcel rate of £4.54 (inc VAT) for up to 10kg

Interparcel dropped its UPS <15kg to £6.50 (ex VAT) recently. I wonder if this will be a UPS service?

Also IME Interparcel customer service is excellent.

myhermes was always the parent company of parcelnet,it has a network of 7500 local couriers they deliver parcels for next,jdw,tescos,grattons,sit up tv,and many more…all these firms would not be using them if they were no good

price might be good – service is not – dont use them – the reason they need work on the seo side is they have changed company name coz there old trading name has the worst name in the whole courier industry – google parcelnet thats what they used to be called – we used them last yr for 1 month and had more complaints from customers than we had in 6 months with RM and DHL put together.

They really need to work on their SEO a bit better!

In the post office today, the subpostmaster was expressing his concerns at the RM action, as he also sees that a lot of courier companies will be jumping on the opportunity to gain new business, and how much of that business would go back to RM after the strikes.

I personally think that this strike action is going to change RM for the futeure, and not in the way that the CWU want it to. I wonder how long it will take the affected posties to realise that the CWU are doing them more long term damage than good?

Also worth taking into account that there is a VAT element on the price (which there isn’t with Royal Mail.
