Optimising search & finding webinar

Two of eBay UK’s top search managers are hosting a webinar, Jay Spanton, Finding Manager, and Mark Davis, Best Match Manager will both speak at the event co-hosted by ChannelAdvisor.
The event takes place on Tuesday 9th December at 3.00pm and will cover hints and tips on Best Match as well as the fundamentals of appearing in search with time for Q&A.
If you want to know why your product isn’t appearing in search, or why a competitors product is placed above yours in Best Match this is where you can get the answers from the people that manage the site.

If someone is going to be attending that webinar, PLEASE read a bit of this thread and if possible, ask them why they are using rolling regional blackouts as part of their BM algorithm.
It’s gotten so bad that lancashire-lad has put out a tool for sellers to track their regional sales.

It’s been confirmed to me by a former ebay.com seller who used to hold the number 2 spot in sales.
They DO use a regional algorithm in Best Match.

This is not a search issue. It’s a horribly wrong and unfair visibility issue that costs all sellers money and explains the hundreds of posts (on numerous threads both on.com and on the UK boards) about flurries of regional sales and then periods of no sales.

Hi Kathy
eBay UK does not use any distance factor in sorting Best Match results.
eBay UK only uses the distance of an item from a buyer in the vehicles categories and the sort is labelled ‘Distance: Nearest First’.
Any clustered regional sales experienced on eBay UK are an anomoly and not driven by Best Match.
It would harm eBay itself and all of our sellers and buyers if we promoted the supply of goods based on UK regions.
