Community Court cancelled indefinitely

Back in October eBay announced trials of the Community Court would commence early in the new year. Community court was touted as a way to allow those who feel they’ve received unfair negative feedback to have their complaint considered by a panel of community members. If enough agree that the feedback is unfair, it will be removed.
Although the community court pages are still live on the eBay site the help page has quietly been revised to state the project has be postponed indefinitely.
Whilst on a site the size of eBay there are always going to be priorities, this is one of the features many members were looking forward to. Unfair and retaliatory feedback has always been a contentious issue and whilst many sellers take feedback in their stride as a fact of life of trading on eBay, others are at times furious at their feedback records being marred by ratings they feel they didn’t deserve.
Hopefully eBay will be replacing the program with similar measures in the future. It may be that’ Community Court has been shelved in favour of progressing other projects such as automatic feedback for buyers. Only time will tell what eBay has in store for us in 2008, the one thing that’s certain is more changes in the area of feedback are coming.
