Banksy graffiti art on eBay

Graffiti – is it art or is it vandalism? I guess it depends on your point of view but one eBayer decided when their wall was daubed by a famous (notorious?) street artist that they’d capitalise on the situation and sell the entire wall to the highest bidder.
It remains to be seen if the auction will be successful, I’m not so sure the Buy It Now price of one million pounds will be achieved, but bidding is up to over fifteen grand although the reserve isn’t yet met.
The graffiti is currently protected by a sheet of Perspex, and it’s up to the winning bidder to remove the wall and replace it with an estimated cost of a further five grand.
It’s an interesting juxtaposition of art and vandalism, but in this instance it appears it could be profitable for the victim.

It looks like it’s gone… Wonder why eBay didn’t like it?

No – it’s still there with bids now up to over £18k

How can you call that vandalism? It improves the wall it’s painted on, it’s witty, and it’s worth a stupid amount of money – *obviously* it’s high art.
And if Banksy wants to come “vandalise” my place, he’s very welcome.

I think it’s fantastic… just so long as it’s not on my wall

£208,100.00 says 999toyota is the winner of the auction. Only question now is what will they do with their wall?
