Window sale not so smashing

The window alledged to be that from which Lee Harvey Oswald shot JFK finally closed at just over US$3 million yesterday, but sadly the sale has fallen through. A spokesman for the seller has said that the winning bidder “didn’t have the cash”.

This seems to happen far too often with these high-profile auctions. Sellers should at the very least be using buyer management preferences to attempt to ensure their buyers are serious. With the amount of free publicity that these sales generate for eBay, though, you’d think it might be worth them investing in a PR person or two to ensure the auction ends happily for everyone.
